Breast Reduction

After breast reduction, your breasts will be more proportional to your body and have a more pleasing shape. Breast reduction is very satisfying for patients, with high satisfaction rates. Even for medium-sized breasts, there are aesthetic and functional benefits from the procedure.

The result is generally permanent. Breast size will remain the same if body weight does not change significantly. Due to gravity and aging, the breast will change over time like any normal breast. This may include a tendency to descend slowly.

Breast augmentation can be performed under general anesthesia, sedation with local anesthesia, or local anesthesia only. It is unusual for women to choose consciousness during the procedure due to discomfort with local anesthesia alone. Therefore, some form of general anesthesia is usually administered. Modern techniques allow shallow anesthesia (sedation) supplemented with local anesthesia, providing effective pain management.

Patients usually stay overnight after surgery, or if the procedure is performed earlier in the day, they can leave the clinic by evening. Pain medication is often needed during the first week to manage postoperative pain, especially with submuscular insertion. Wearing a sports bra provides the necessary support during this initial period. The wounds are covered with surgical tape for two weeks and must be protected from the sun for at least six months. Showers can usually be taken a few days after surgery, with baths allowed after two weeks. Physical activity should be avoided for at least two weeks, gradually resuming afterwards. The initial swelling may make the breasts appear larger, but most of it resolves within the first few months. As the tissue adapts to the implant, subtle changes in the shape of the breast may occur over time. A final appointment is scheduled six months after surgery to evaluate the results.

Breast augmentation usually does not interfere with breastfeeding and it has been confirmed by scientific studies that there is no silicon in breast milk.
