Liver Transplantation
Our liver transplant team has pioneered several innovative
procedures, including adult-to-adult living donor right lobe
transplants, simultaneous split-liver transplants for two adults,
domino liver transplants and double liver of the left lobe.
According to annual reports from the Turkish Ministry of Health,
over 95% of our liver transplant recipients resume a normal daily
life after transplantation.
Dedicated to our mission as a leading, innovative and continuously
improving institution, we are proud to train
professionals—including surgeons, hepatologists,
anesthesiologists, radiologists, intensivists, nurses,
coordinators and technicians—from all over Europe.

Stages of the liver transplant journey
Preparation for transplantation
The recipient undergoes a three-stage evaluation during a 5-7 day
hospital stay:
Transplantation process
In this procedure, part of the donor's liver is transplanted into
the recipient immediately after the patient's diseased liver is
removed. The regenerative ability of the liver allows the
remaining liver of the donor and the transplanted part of the
recipient to quickly return to their original sizes within six
months.
When the donor's blood type is incompatible with the recipient's,
this procedure matches compatible donors with patients waiting on
the cadaver list, often unaware of potential matches, preventing
unnecessary deaths.
Post-transplant care
After the transplant, the patient spends 26-48 hours in the
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) connected to a ventilator. Depending on
their condition, the patient is then transferred to a ward for
further monitoring for temperature, jaundice, pain, fluid
accumulation and liver function.
Patients are involved in an intensive physical and mental
rehabilitation program to speed up their recovery.
After discharge, patients are scheduled for regular follow-up
visits at our outpatient clinic to monitor progress and ensure
continued care.
